Your first hour in the Overworld
Mobs & Flobs does not replace survival Minecraft. It puts a repeatable adventure loop underneath the world you already build, mine, and defend.
- 01
Receive your bound kit
Join a world and make room for the Riftfinder, Riftfang relic, Riftbound armor, and Wayfarer’s Rations.
- 02
Learn the four controls
Press G for the in-game guide, R for the Rift Soul, H for HUD modes, and left bracket ([) for the Realm Ledger.
- 03
Survive a Flobfall
Fight named night threats for Gel, Shards, relic experience, and Essence. Ordinary daytime survival still matters.
- 04
Follow the Riftfinder
Its compass needle automatically binds to your next safe rift site and does not retarget while you travel.
- 05
Clear the delve
Fight five encounters across three chambers, follow the private guide motes, and defeat the Flobberwock.
- 06
Return stronger
Loot the cache, gain a farther tier, reshape your relic with Essence, and prepare for the next band.
CONTROLS
Four keys and one context-aware compass
The mod keeps its permanent controls small. All damage, progression, rewards, and rift state remain server-authoritative.
You can change R, H, G, and [ in Minecraft's normal key-bind menu. Dropping the relic remains a fallback way to manifest its Soul.
THE LONG DESCENT
Ten tiers across four bands
Victory advances your deepest completed tier, strengthens your Riftbound armor at major thresholds, and charts a farther site. Tiers 1–3 teach the loop; Tiers 4–10 enforce the preparation shown below.
| Tier | Band | Party | Weapon | Armor | Flobcakes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| T1 | Hollow Fringe | 1 | Lv. 1 | Rank I | 0 |
| T2 | Hollow Fringe | 1 | Lv. 2 | Rank I | 0 |
| T3 | Hollow Fringe | 2 | Lv. 3 | Rank I | 1 |
| T4 | Gloamworks | 2 | Lv. 4 | Rank II | 2 |
| T5 | Gloamworks | 3 | Lv. 5 | Rank II | 2 |
| T6 | Gloamworks | 3 | Lv. 6 | Rank II | 2 |
| T7 | Mawdeep | 3 | Lv. 7 | Rank III | 3 |
| T8 | Mawdeep | 4 | Lv. 8 | Rank III | 3 |
| T9 | Mawdeep | 4 | Lv. 9 | Rank III | 3 |
| T10 | Primordial Heart | 4 | Lv. 10 | Rank III | 4 |
Clear Tier 3
Your full Riftbound set reforms as diamond gear with stronger protection.
Clear Tier 6
The set reforms as netherite gear and reaches its final armor rank.
Tier 10 remains open
The Primordial Heart stays available after completion for mastery and leaderboard runs.
SURVIVE
Flobfall turns the night into preparation
From world time 13,000 through 22,999, ordinary hostile mobs can awaken with names and affixes while bounded Nightflobs emerge nearby. Peaceful mode and disabled mob spawning are respected.
Quivering Flob Gel
Reliable from Flobs. Combine four Gel with two Hollow Mob Shards at a Field Forge to make a Delver's Flobcake.
Hollow Mob Shards
Common from Mobbed enemies and richer from elites and bosses. Shards now have one job: fueling Field Forge recipes.
Essence
Earned from named threats, delve enemies, bosses, and completions. Spend 50 Essence to reshape your relic at a smithing table.
Delver’s Flobcake
Sneak-use the Riftfinder on a crafting table with four Gel and two Shards. Deeper tiers require a visible supply before entry.
PREPARE
One relic, two forms, a shared Soul
Your relic is persistent rather than disposable. Its name, level, form, and experience survive death, restarts, material upgrades, and manifestation.
Blade
- StartRift Lance
- A precise ranged strike for 20 mana.
- Level 2Riftmark
- Lance marks a survivor; your next normal melee hit ruptures it and restores mana.
- Level 3Flob Burst
- Sneak-use to damage and throw back nearby hostiles.
- Level 5Piercing Lance
- Rift Lance reaches as many as three lined-up targets.
Cleaver
- StartMobbreaker
- A heavy frontal cleave for 25 mana.
- Level 2Fracture
- Wounded Mobbreaker targets are slowed.
- Level 3Faultline
- Sneak-use to damage and launch enemies in a line.
- Level 5Wide Cleave
- Mobbreaker reaches a larger group in front of you.
The identity persists
Rename the relic at an anvil. Its visible weapon name also becomes the overhead identity of the manifested Rift Soul.
Mold Blade ↔ Cleaver
Hold the relic, crouch, and use a smithing table. The complete transaction either spends exactly 50 Essence and changes form or does nothing.
Send the weapon to fight
Press R to transfer the bound weapon and armor into a skinned Soul. Nearby hostiles turn on it, while accepted damage remains linked to you.
Collapse is not loss
A fallen Soul returns the complete bound loadout and reforms after a visible cooldown. Full inventories and dimension changes preserve custody.
CHART
The Riftfinder remembers the road
Each player receives a deterministic next site for their current tier. The Finder looks for safe terrain asynchronously, so generating unexplored land does not freeze the server.
Wait for attunement
The HUD reports charting progress. If no valid site exists in the band, the search retries automatically.
Follow the needle
The target is sticky. Walking in another direction never silently swaps the compass to a different ruin.
Stand in the artifact
Within four blocks the HUD says STEP INTO ARTIFACT. Remain for one deliberate second to descend.
A valid surface site needs a continuous natural approach. Previously stranded old sites receive a bounded causeway or mooring without changing their permanent dungeon binding.
DESCEND
Three chambers, five encounters, one Flobberwock
Every site keeps an eight-to-twelve-room graph generated from its permanent seed. Rooms branch and loop, but gates remain real progression cuts that cannot be bypassed.
Jump the living row
A slime-and-honey line travels across open floor. Solid architecture becomes a natural gap rather than being overwritten.
Leave the glowing center
A visible ring and sound telegraph the center before a terrain-safe blast.
Follow the real route
Private end-rod trails pass through doors and corridor bends instead of pointing through solid rock.
Explore before you leave
Every fresh run contains one branded cache in a side room. Repairs preserve its inventory and never refill an emptied cache.
Read the name before the affix punishes you
- Quickened
- Moves with persistent native speed.
- Rimebound
- Successful hits briefly slow you.
- Hollow-Eyed
- Successful hits drain mana.
- Blackened
- A hit brings short darkness, but the attacker glows so you can answer it.
- Ironbound
- Wears visible armor and can rarely drop damaged Riftworn salvage.
RETURN
Failure preserves the adventure
The run belongs to its persisted party. A death or disconnect has a defined recovery path rather than deleting the whole delve.
Repeat only the encounter
You return outside the same rift. The current encounter resets; opened gates, site claim, and tier position remain.
Survivors keep fighting
The fallen member is ejected and may step back through the artifact while the remaining party continues.
The delve pauses safely
Members are ejected and the leader can resume later. A non-leader disconnect simply leaves the active roster.
Sixty seconds to loot
Present members receive progression and rewards. The Finder can return you early; otherwise the visible countdown exits automatically.
LEAVE A MARK
The Realm Ledger records completed delves
Press the left bracket ([) to view the same rolling 30-day record published on the website. Rankings compare deepest tier, Flobberwock final blows, credited clears, fastest clear, then player name.
One run, individual credit
Every present rewarded member receives a clear. Exactly one member receives the Flobberwock final blow.
Verified, not called cheat-proof
Enrolled realms sign exact completion facts. Duplicate delivery is rejected, but community server operators remain community-trusted.
No chat, inventory, or location
Public records contain identity, relic details, tier, boss credit, and duration—not IP addresses, world names, chat, or credentials.
Rewards never wait for the network
Completion is granted first. A bounded local outbox retries delivery without blocking the server tick.
RECOVERY
Commands are escape hatches, not the main loop
Both /maf and /mobsandflobs work without cheats. Use them when an ordinary in-world action is unavailable or when you need a precise status report.
/maf statusInspect relic growth, Essence, readiness, charting, and the persisted run.
/maf helpRead a text-only fallback for the Field Guide.
/maf startChart, enter, or resume when the Finder interaction is unavailable.
/maf resumeRepair and return to an unfinished delve.
/maf leaveReturn to the Overworld while preserving the active run.
/maf abandonEnd the run, release its site, and receive no tier progress.
